Maintenance of fronts in hardwax oiled veneer

The fronts and panels of the FRAME collection are made by using veneer that is finished with a hardwax oil. When taking good care of your veneer fronts and panels, their resilience, resistance to wear and impact will be maintained, and its look be kept neat and clean.

Below, we’ve listed some good advice on how best to maintain your fronts.

Daily Cleaning

For daily maintenance, wipe with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe the surface in a vertical motion, following the direction of the grain, to prevent fibers from getting stuck in the grain. Refrain from using detergents and soap, as they may dry out the wood. Abrasive detergents and sponges should be avoided.

Occasional Waxing

It is recommended to apply hardwax oil 3-4 times a year. The recommended product is Ecoline Hardwax-Oil by SAICOS. You can find the products here - EU and US. The oil should be applied after cleaning.

How to Apply Wax:

Start by wiping the surface with a soft, lint-free cloth wrung out in clean water.

Then, apply the wax with a soft, lint-free cloth or a soft sponge in an even, thin layer. Always treat wooden furniture in the direction of the wood grain.

Allow the wax to dry for approximately 30 minutes, then polish the surface with a dry, lint-free cloth. Remove any excess.

Preventive Measures

For stubborn stains, we recommend Guardian Wood Cleaner. If the wood grain rises or becomes rough, sand it lightly with fine sandpaper. Refrain from using steel wool at all times. Treatment, cleaning, or sanding should always be done in the direction of the grain.

Avoid exposure to heat and humidity, as this can cause stains. For dishwashers, we advise deactivating the automatic opening function once a program is finished and manually opening the dishwasher fully. This prevents a concentrated steam release through a narrow opening angle that might cause mold stains over time.

The surface should never be treated with products containing abrasive substances. Using abrasive sponges or harsh materials such as sandpaper or steel wool may cause the removal of pigments in the grain.

Refrain from using acidic or alkaline products, heavily chlorinated products, or those containing bleach, as they may stain or degrade the surface.

Do not cover the furniture with air-tight materials for extended periods of time.
