Sinks

Sink Selection

For some worktop materials it is necessary to order a sink with a tap hole in a sink panel behind the bowl, this to ensure water does not seep into the worktop core material.

This is relevant for worktop materials such as linoleum, laminate and solid wood.

For solid material worktops such as Getacore, Corian, Stainless steel, marble and HDPE, the tap hole can be placed in the worktop material behind the sink.

**this sink cannot be under mounted in a <30 mm thick worktop, as the drainboard sticks down too much for this to fit in a thin worktop with the drainboard over a dishwasher. Choose an at least 30 mm thick top instead. It is no issue for flush- or top mounted.

Care & Maintenance

Daily cleaning is done with a sulfo detergent on a damp cloth, soft sponge or brush. Rinse with clean water afterwards.

Stainless steel is highly resistant to stains, rust and corrosion. Discoloration on steel is typically made by external causes and not from the steel itself. If the stain cannot be removed by regular cleaning, we recommend checking the manufacturer’s recommendations for special cleaning products. Avoid the following:

• Scouring sponges/ scouring powders may leave clear scratches.
• Steel wool; as it may leave small particles that can develop into rust spots and optically resemble rust on the sink.
• Cast iron pans and similar placed in the sink to soak overnight - may form rust stains on the steel surface.
• Chlorine / Bleach may leave the surface matte.
• Salt, vinegar, citric acid, fruit juice, mustard, chlorine and other chemicals left on the surface can in worst case cause corrosion and damage the sink

Scratch resistance
Steel sinks will, regardless of the brand, get minor surface scratches during everyday use. These have only visible significance will become less visible in time.
Surface scratches in coated/colored steel sinks are more visible. These scratches are not covered by the product guarantee.

Care & Maintenance

Granite composite sinks are produced using a mixture of granite, acrylic and colour pigments.

NB!

  • Boiling water taps may discolor the granite composite sink. So this type of sink should not be sold for use with Quookers.
  • Granite composite sinks may in some extreme instances crack when being exposed to excessive cold/heat impact or shocks. We note that this is not a product defect and cannot be claimed.

The daily maintenance is simple. Use a regular scouring sponge with a bit of dish-soap if the sink is dirty. Rinse with water and wipe off with a cloth to avoid limescale.

  • Coloured foods and liquids should leave no stains on the surface. However on light coloured granite sinks, it is recommended to rinse off with water immediately.
  • If there are strong calcareous deposits/soiling, leave warm vinegar in the basin for some minutes and then rinse carefully with water.
  • Discoloration of granite sinks is more prevalent in areas with ‘hard’ water due to the tendency of limescale settling in thesink. In these cases it is usually not the sink itself but the limescale that is being discolored by tea, coffee or other colored liquids and food. You may use a limescale remover, and then follow with the manufacturers maintenance products.
  • A dishwasher tablet can be dissolved in hot water and left overnight, before rinsing the sink carefully with water.
  • In case of stubborn stains or grease you can clean the sink with a sponge and sulfo based detergent.

Installation Methods

We can supply the sink mounted into the worktop. Installation method depends on the worktop material, as different methods are possible for different worktops.

The methods where we will supply the sink are called undermounted, flush-undermounted or flushmounted.
If you would like a topmounted sink, will need to source the sink yourself and supply us with exact cut-out measurements and our production team can prepare the cut-out in the worktop.
